Five Smart Choices For Arriving Home Safely from the Ontario Snowmobiler Magazine

1. Stay on OFSC trails - 80% of fatalities occur off OFSC trails.
2.  Ride within your ability and according to weather - over 80% of fatalities occur when riders inadvertently lose control.
3.  Stay off public roads - one third of fatalities happen when snowmobilers get hit by automobiles or run into parked cars.
4.  Stay on marked ice trails - a third of fatalities occur elsewhere on frozen waterways by collision with hidden obstacles or the shore, or by drowning.
5.  Practice zero tolerance - impaired riding contributes to over 50% of snowmobile fatalities.
